Well now I am going to share information with you that i wished was with me when addressing this mess.
Ok so the first thing you have to do is to assess the damage of the trees on your property or home. Here are a list of points to consider while assessing your property.
Leaning - Try to look for trees that are leaning following your storm. Pretty straight forward with this if the tree hasnt been leaning before and is now it needs to drop.
Check base soil within the tree - During a storm the blend of water and wind enables the tree to shift underground. The tree may still be standing but root damage will do the tree in. If you dont know what you are looking for here it is far better talk with the tree specialist.
Broken and cracked trunks - Its caused by sudden gusts of wind that you really usually see with some sort of storm front that produces straight winds or a tornado.
Once you have a grasp on the trees that will probably need to be removed it is time to get down to picking this company to handle the job. This is the area that i really over looked and have been just hiring someone that arrived at my door and a few that called me. A painless time investment here can have saved me headaches together with money. Let us review what to consider in picking that company. Remember it is not always about the cheapest price.
Company qualifications: ISA Certified, Insured and bonded, own their equipment, References
As you can see there are a few things to look with regard to. Now I am not saying that Joe down the street will do a bad job. You do have to ask yourself this question though. What happens if Joe causes some damage to your or a neighbors property or home. Well that will come back to you being liable. A company that is actually insured and boned are able to absorb those liabilities independently.
Another thing to consider is what is completed the waste after that tree is down. You certainly could save in cost by only receiving the service cut down ones trees. Another options you may want to explore is the company chips the wood for you. Certainly would help that mulch pile out. However a superb tree service company can have ways of monetizing your tree waste.
Now that any of us have established what to consider in companies lets get down to the nuts and bolts about this. As you know every region has a different cost to their own service. What I would like to do here is to provide you with some prices that I had to pay. This should hopefully help you when it comes time to hire that company to remove your trees.
My own tree removal bills:
Corporation 1: 23 trees taken off property. They billed me for $2300 thats $100 per tree.
Corporation 2: Smaller property, 3 trees removed. Removing trees caused damage to my rental and they were not insured. After all is said and done My organization is looking at around some sort of $8500 loss.
